Lech Bator – contemporary Polish painter. He plays with conventions, uses comic and graffiti aesthetics, and reimagines the kitsch symbol of the stag in rut in dreamlike, muted compositions.
Lech Bator (b. 1986) intrigues viewers with familiar symbols and narrative twists. Drawing on comics and graffiti, he often revisits the “stag in rut” motif, relocating it to dislocated, surreal spaces. His muted palette and collage-like canvases foster nostalgia and an oneiric atmosphere.
Studied at the European Academy of Art in Warsaw under Franciszek Starowieyski and Antoni Fałat. Graduated in graphic design (2010). While rooted in graphics, he developed painterly collages combining realistic landscapes with half-human, half-animal figures. A Monaco collector once acquired 70 paintings in a single purchase.
Young art; figurative painting infused with pop-surrealism, comics and street-art references.
