Katarzyna Skąpska (b. 1979, Toruń, Poland) is a sculptor exploring new forms of figurative art. Her works often depict the female body as fragmentary, fragile and sensual.

Materials and technique

In 2019, Skąpska discovered paper as a primary medium. She recycles egg cartons, combining paper pulp with cement to create a highly malleable mass that, once dry, becomes durable sculpture material.

Inspiration

Her inspiration comes from nature, light and the human body. Many of her sculptures also function as lamps, where light becomes part of the artwork. Fragmented forms emphasize the fragility of human life and the imperfection of the body.

Artistic style

Skąpska’s art merges figurativism with young art. In her works, paper ceases to be ordinary material, transforming into a medium of emotions and paradoxes – combining softness and rawness.
