Emilia Maryniak is a Polish visual artist, painter and installation author. Her works merge traditional artistic techniques with natural materials, light, sound, text and moving images. She explores both the visible world of nature and the imagined world of physics, rooted in philosophical concepts.
Biography and education
She holds a degree from Chelsea College of Arts – University of the Arts London and from the Institute of Art History, University of Warsaw. She also studied at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. Maryniak lectures at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and collaborates with the National Museum in Warsaw in popularizing art knowledge.
Style and direction
Her artistic practice belongs to contemporary art. Through her works she raises questions about belonging, identity and the human body, exploring humanity’s place in the universe.
Exhibitions and collections
Her works have been presented at Bankside Gallery in London, TRAFO in Szczecin, WOZOWNIA Gallery in Toruń, Red Gallery in London and Centrala Gallery in Birmingham. They are part of public and private collections across Poland, the UK, Greece, Spain and Austria.
Awards and recognition
Winner of the International Art for Ecology Grant (IONION, 2023) and the ARTELES Artistic Residency Grant in Finland (2015). Her works were selected for numerous international exhibitions and contemporary art festivals.
