Painting “Nude Signs 1” – Malina Wieczorek
“Nude Signs 1” is a poetic work from 2020 in which Malina Wieczorek reinterprets the theme of the nude by transforming it into a trace, symbol and sign. A small, pale rectangle with a strong relief emerges in the centre of a golden-ochre field, suggesting the memory of a body rather than its literal depiction.
Built from cool whites and greys applied in a thick impasto, the central form contrasts with the calm, matte background. A fine linear frame drawn around it reinforces the impression of a “painting within a painting”, as if the nude were a fragment of visual memory suspended in space.
