Description

Painting “What Was, Was Not” – Beata Walczak

“What Was, Was Not” is a 100 × 100 cm acrylic painting on canvas in which Beata Walczak creates a lyrical forest scene. At the centre, a woman in a striped dress embraces a man in a textured sweater, resting against his shoulder. They stand in front of a backdrop of stylised trees painted in saturated greens and oranges.

Above their heads hang branches heavy with bright pink, cherry-like fruit, while in the background a small dog sits quietly, adding warmth and a slightly whimsical touch. Decorative patterns on the leaves, tree trunks and the man’s sweater give the work a strong, illustrative quality. The title “What Was, Was Not” hints at the shifting nature of memory – events that hover between reality and storytelling.

The painting combines contemporary figurative art with a fairy-tale palette and detailed ornamentation. It makes a beautiful focal point in a living room, bedroom or office space, bringing a sense of calm intimacy and positive energy to the interior.
